Abstract

According to the Spanish Allergology and Clinical Immunology Society (SEAIC), allergic diseases affect 30% of the Spanish population. Allergy occupies the sixth position within ten diseases or health problems that 15 years old and older suffer more frequently (13.37%), according to the European health survey in Spain (EESE) 2014, carried out by the National Institute of Statistics (INE). Since the first subcutaneous inoculation by Leonard Noon in 1911 from an extract of Phleum pratense to pollen patients, multiple controlled studies have been published showing that allergen-specific immunotherapy is the only treatment capable of modifying the natural course of allergic disease, significantly reducing the disease severity and the medication consumption as well as considerably improve the quality of life. In the current study we have collected data from 46 patients older than 14 years old who receive rush immunotherapy, in a private allergology consultation in Cáceres, to know which is the most frequent allergen against patients are vaccinated and their safety, obtaining a higher percentage in "100% grass mixture", 47,83% of the sample studied, followed by "mixed grasses 50% Olea europaea 50%" 28.26% and the results show that subcutaneous immunotherapy is a safe and a proper method for allergy treatment.
