Abstract
The Mediterranean diet is considered a healthy eating model because of the multiple benefits itrepresents. The objective was to determine the influence of the place of residence on the dietary pattern,as well as the adherence to the Mediterranean diet in students from Cáceres. The study was carried out on171 students of the Nursing degree of the Nursing and Occupational Therapy College of Cáceres. Both theplace of residence and the adherence to the Mediterranean diet were established using the Kidmed index. The 75.4% of the students who lived in their family residence consumed a piece of fruit every day, whereasonly the 48.2% of university students who share an apartment did it. The daily intake of more than onepiece of fruit and fresh or cooked vegetables was similar in both groups. Significant differences wereobserved in the overall score of the Kidmed index between groups. The students who live in their familyresidence consume more pieces of fruit and vegetables, resulting in a healthier lifestyle. The level ofadherence to the Mediterranean diet was similar in both groups. However, lower overall scores wereobserved in the group of students sharing an apartment.
